Martin Teal

I started my career in the financial services industry working with the Prudential in 1993. After leaving the Prudential, I worked my way up to become an Independent Financial Adviser, remaining so until summer 2014 when my company was approached to join St. James's Place.

About

I’m Martin Teal, a Director of Keystone Financial, a Financial Adviser, a Husband, and a dad to two beautiful, headstrong daughters who have opened my eyes to issues such as equality in the workplace and the need to focus significantly on environmental issues.

I have a wall full of certificates, a head full of financial knowledge and 30 plus years’ experience when it comes to financial planning. I am also a Chartered Financial Planner and a Fellow with the Personal Finance Society, which is the industry's gold standard for financial planners. I also specialise in pensions, estate planning and later life planning.

I enjoy what I do and the benefits it brings to people’s financial lives, their aspirations and financial wellbeing, so that they can ultimately plan and enjoy their lives. I am very good at taking people's goals and challenges and helping them to save tax, by providing tax efficient solutions which complement their objectives.

I help people across a range of areas, from pensions, retirement planning, investments, tax planning, estate planning through to later life planning. This can be for individuals, families or business owners who wish to build upon and create wealth in a tax efficient manner. What’s core to how we work together is our values based on integrity, understanding each other, and building upon that relationship. I always start with an initial meeting to explore how and if we could potentially work together effectively and where I can add value. The two questions at the onset are: where are you now and where do you want to get to?

I am a former running triathlete who built up with a hat trick of iron man events before having a hip replacement, as well as a retired motorcyclist, just one too many crashes! I have a lifelong passion for mountaineering which thankfully has been extended with the new hip. I’m very keen on DIY and in another life would have been an engineer (I would say I’m a financial engineer).

The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.

The levels and bases of taxation and reliefs from taxation can change at any time. The value of any tax relief depends on individual circumstances.
